The Operation Vanguard Joint Task-force ‘Forward Operating Base West’ (FOB West), have arrested a Chinese national and three Ghanaians on an illegal mining site at Juabo, in the Amenfi Central District of the Western Region.
The Public Relations Officer of Operation Vanguard, Squadron Leader Robison Omane-Agyei, said 50-year-old Sim Jiao Ming was arrested together with three Ghanaians.
They are Ibrahim Yunus, 26 years old from Nzema Anyinase, Lukman Abdulai, 20 years old also from Nzema Anyinase, and 36-year-old Bernard Nviddah, a native of Juabo.
The Operation Vanguard team also demolished one XCMG Excavator used by the suspects and destroyed one industrial pumping machine.
He said a Mitsubishi pickup truck with registration number GE 6442-15, and an unregistered Haojin motorbike were also seized by the team.
Other items collected from the site as exhibits included a water hose, one generator set and one gas cylinder.
He said the suspects had been handed over to the Juabo police for further interrogations.
