The San Antonio Spurs have released Ghanaian centre Amida Brimah as they finalize their roster ahead of the 2017/2018 NBA season.
The 7’0 shot blocker was hoping to secure a roster spot with the western conference power house following a summer league stint with the Chicago Bulls and subsequently making the Spurs pre-season roster.
Brimah made three pre-season appearances averaging 3.0 points and 3.0 rebounds in 5.7 minutes.
He was beaten to the centre position by former Michigan State Spartan Matt Costello who has been signed to a two-way contract, bringing the total number of players on the Spurs roster to seventeen.
The former NCAA National champion with the UCONN Huskies in 2014 will in effect become a free agent as he seeks other opportunities.
