Ghana’s Ambassadors and High Commissioner designates have assured Ghanaians of their commitment to attract more investors into the country in their line of duty to propel her development.
According to them, government’s agenda of industrialization will also require the attraction of more investors with expertise and the capacity to deliver hence their herculean task.
The Ambassadors and High Commissioners designates disclosed this during a one-day familiarization tour of the Upper East Region to get themselves abreast with the opportunities and challenges of the region.
Speaking to Citi News, the leader of the delegation and Ambassador-designate to Canada, Ayikoi Otoo said, they will embark on economic diplomacy bent on investor attraction and enterprising drive.
“We are visiting all the ten regions to know at first sight their problems. We are embarking on economic diplomacy thus, we are going to be dealing with investments and trade. So if you don’t know the issues at first hand you wouldn’t know where to direct the investors.”
“So hearing from our MMDCEs and Regional Ministers telling us about the areas that they will need support so that when we finally assume office we will know how best we can assist to get investors into the country.”
Mr. Ayikoi Otoo reiterated their commitment to augment government’s efforts of fulfilling the industrialization agenda and creating jobs for the people.
“The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, is interested in industrialization through the One District One Factory so the Pwalugu tomato factory and the Zuarungu Meat factory will be revamped, we are also looking at promoting proper mining by bringing in investors with expertise and machinery.”
“We have gone round the country and let me assure Ghanaians that, we will take the investments seriously and push process forward to propel development in Ghana. ” Mr. Otoo said.
The Ambassadors and High Commissioners designates paid a courtesy call on the Tongran Kulgbilsong Nalebtang who doubles as Council of state member representing the Upper East Region.
They also visited the wife of late NPP Upper East Regional, Chairman Adam Mahama.
For his part, Upper East Regional Minister Rockson Bukari hinted the Ambassadors and High Commissioners designates to many investment opportunities such as Agriculture, Tourism, Mining processing among others for foreign support.
He appealed to international development agencies to support the region to overcome some of its challenges in the areas of education, health, disasters among others.
