Government has reiterated its commitment to fulfill its campaign promise of building a military hospital in Tamale.
The hospital is expected to provide healthcare needs of personnel and civilians in the northern part of the country.
In a speech read on behalf of the President at the 2017 graduation parade, the Vice President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia also indicated that government will roll out the Barracks Regeneration Project to renovate and build new ones.
“It is my government plan to roll out a comprehensive housing programme dubbed the barracks regeneration project to address the accommodation needs of our dependable soldiers.”
He said more military personnel will also be accommodated.
“Other infrastructural needs will receive equal attention from government. I have a strong belief that with the necessary intervention, the infrastructural challenges of the Armed Forces will be resolved.”
He said government will soon complete the third phase of the 37 Military Hospital.
“I therefore ask for your forbearance and patience as measures are put in place to remedy the accommodation challenges. As medical graduates, it may interest you to know, that as part of our manifesto, we promised to build another military hospital in Tamale. This hospital is expected to cater for the medical needs of personnel in the Northern sector of the country. We also intend to complete the third phase of the 37 military hospital project as well as upgrade its equipment to meet modern medical challenges. My government is also committed to implementing policies that will enhance the image and well being of the personnel of the Armed Forces.”
