Some fifteen world-class standard medical facilities have been showcased at the maiden edition of the Dubai-Africa Partnership for Better Health Roadshow in Accra.
The two-day event, which opened on Monday March 20, 2017, at the plush Kempinski Hotel in Accra, seeks to avail to Ghanaians the excellent medical services offered in Dubai.
The event, sponsored by the Neuro Spinal Hospital also based in Dubai, with Emirates as a partner, is under the auspices of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), in association with Dubai Health Experience (DXH).
The roadshow, which was largely created to target Africa, has already taken place in Nigeria.
It will then continue to East Africa, visiting Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and Nairobi in Kenya; Cape Town and Johannesburg in South Africa, and end in Morocco, North Africa.
Themed around building strategic partnerships and the exploration of a range of services that Dubai-based health and medical providers have to offer, the Dubai-Africa Partnership for Better Health Roadshow 2017, will be supporting Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs), medical centres, and private hospitals from primarily specialty areas such as Cosmetic Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Cardiology, General Diagnostics and Neurosurgery.
Renowned for its firm grip on tourism, Dubai is ready to showcase the capability of its medical sector to the world through the roadshow.
At the opening of the Roadshow in Accra, reps from the fifteen health facilities, offered details of their services to health sector workers, some members of the general public as well as government officials.
Speaking to citifmonline.com, Nishoo Ghosh, a Principal Administrative Officer, Medical Tourism Council – Dubai, said aside the business focus of the initiative, “this also gives Ghana an opportunity to look at future collaborations which will benefit the citizens of Ghana. We are going to share knowledge in expertise” she noted.
Also speaking to Citifmonline.com, International Patients Liaison Officer of the Neuro Spinal Hospital, the main sponsors of the roadshow, Mohamed Zidane, said his Hospital and many others in Dubai provide the best of healthcare services at realistic prices than what pertains in India, United States or Europe.
“We are in Dubai and for the past few years we have been trying to improve and increase medical tourism in the world since Dubai is one of the top tourism destinations in the world. We are really happy to participate in this event in Africa, especially in Accra to let people know what services we are proving with the experts we have from all around the world. The complex surgeries in spine, orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, and brain surgery are being provided in very high standards in Dubai.”
“Neuro Spinal Hospital doesn’t work focus on profit, the doctors are really operating on very high standards and we have a technology that is only available in our hospital in Middle East. Of course it’s a good opportunity here in Africa to attract people who are looking for good treatment and healing.”
He thus urged Ghanaians seeking utmost quality care in the most serene environment from highly skilled medical professionals, to opt for Dubai, which is also shorter and less economical in terms of travel cost.
“I am sure that we are more affordable if you Europe, America or any western country. You know Dubai is not a cheap country like India or Thailand, but we still can offer service in the same quality, same level of Europe and even it could be much better in affordable price although Dubai is not a cheap country.”
“You need to consider the flight. Maybe you need to travel many hours to America, but Dubai is a little bit closer and in a strategic location. You don’t have to stay for long to get treatment, you can finish your treatment and follow up after few months according to the treatment required, accommodation, staying away from your family and many other factors; you need to consider all that as a cost.”
He said they are also focused on organising international conferences that seeks to impact health professionals in other places and that Ghana also stands to benefit from such initiatives going forward.
“We are thinking if we can organise these medical educational events also in Ghana to get everybody on board including the doctors and surgeons. So it’s not only going to be business and the kind of medical tourism we are doing now.”
Aside the main sponsor, the Neuro Spinal Hospital, the other fourteen (14) health facilities in Dubai participating in the roadshow include, Iranian Hospital, Medcare Hospitals & Medical Centres, Emirates Hospitals Group, Prime Hospital, Exeter Medical Centre for Bone and Joint Health, Al Zahra Private Hospital and Thumbay Hospital.
The rest are Faki IVF Fertility Center, Al Garhoud Private Hospital Zulekha Hospitals and Bella Rama Medical & Aesthetic Surgery Center, Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery, Bourn Hall Fertility Centre and Cocoona.
