A Tamale District Court 2 presided over by His Worship Augustine Essah has slapped GHC500 fine on Madam Suraiya for defaming the character of Rabi Dawuda.
Rabi Dawuda, the plaintiff dragged the defendant, Madam Suraiya to court for alleging that she was among the ladies involved in the Tamale sex scandal pornographic photos and videos.
The plaintiff among several claims demanded compensation of GHC2,000 for defamation of character.
The plaintiff also called for an order directed at the defendant to announce through radio stations in Tamale retracting the false information she peddled against her that she was among the ladies seen in the pornographic photos and videos in circulation.
At the court sitting on Tuesday August 12, 2004, the presiding judge in his wisdom asked the defendant to pay GHC500 to the plaintiff.
His Worship Augustine Essah further ordered the defendant to on Friday August 15, 2014 after the Jummah prayers appear on some Tamale based radio stations and retract the wild allegation she leveled against the plaintiff.
The learned Judge’s decision was informed by the conduct of the defendant, Madam Suraiya who pleaded guilty.
An attempt by the chief of Tamale, Naa Dakpema Dawuni to have the issue settled out of court proved futile.
The Northern Regional Youth Imam, Sheikh Awal Napari lauded the court’s verdict and cautioned the youth of Tamale against making such frivolous allegations.
