Enterprise Properties LTD (EPL) has reinforced its commitment to sustainable community development with the inauguration of a mechanised borehole facility for the Ussher Fort community in Jamestown, Accra.
The ceremony was held to celebrate and officially launch a project which began two months ago to help make potable water more accessible to residents of the Ussher Fort community. The borehole project, designed to provide reliable access to clean water, is equipped with modern filtration systems and a secure storage tank to ensure a continuous supply of water.
Speaking at the launch, Carlos Mankatta, Assemblyman of the Ussher Fort electoral area, described the project as an answered prayer. He also went on to say that this project is one of the biggest projects he has embarked on since becoming a member of the assembly.
Originally set up to provide real estate services, EPL is committed to embarking on projects to support the development of communities outside the Enterprise ecosystem.
Speaking to the General Manager, Kwadwo Nini Owusu, he highlighted the need for partnering with local communities, “This year, we came up with an ESG, (Environmental Social Governance) Framework, for 3 years and within that 3 years we decided on some of the things we are going to be doing, one of which is; engaging the community where we operate as a business, to see how best we can work with them, partner with them and how best we can help them develop. By providing access to clean and sustainable water here in James Town, we are not just drilling a borehole; we are reaffirming our commitment to making a lasting impact in this community.”
The community leaders and residents expressed joy and relief at the new borehole facility, as it provides relief to them, emphasising the long-standing water supply challenges in James Town and how this initiative would reduce reliance on unreliable water vendors and ease daily living conditions, particularly for women and children who often bear the burden of fetching water. The borehole facility directly supports improved public health and household wellbeing within James Town.

The borehole project is part of EPL’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda, which focuses on improving the quality of life through impactful projects and responsible business practices.
