The Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA) has presented items to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital at Sekondi to assist in health care delivery. The items are bed sheets and gallons of liquid soap and that this is part of GSA’s corporate social responsibility.
Charles Darling Asiedu Sey, Western and Central Regions Manager of GSA, who presented the items on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GSA, Benonita Bismarck explained that “every year we deem it necessary to support the health sector and other organizations in the area in which we operate.”
“We have over the years donated to several institutions and this year, with the COVID-19 crisis, we thought it wise to assist the only referral hospital in the Western Region,” he added.
According to him, good health care delivery is important to the growth of every nation; “production can be halted if the human resource needed is not available hence, the need to ensure that the health of the people is paramount.” He pointed out that the authority also assists the vulnerable in the society most times.
Mr. Sey urged management of the hospital to use the items for its intended purpose.
Justina Amo-Yartey, Deputy Director of Nursing Services at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital was grateful to Shippers Authority for the kind gesture. She said the items will be put to good use and urged other institutions to support the hospital in their own small way.
