One of the world’s leading suppliers of marine equipment and services, Fendercare Marine UK, has formally opened its Ghana office to offer support to the marine and oil and gas industries in the country.
Fendercare Marine Ghana is a joint-venture between Ghanaian company Bayfield Oil Services and the United Kingdom-based company.
According to Mr. Phillip Yebesi, the relationship between two companies started when Bayfield sought the services of Fendercare to execute a diving contract it had won in Côte d’Ivoire.
“Subsequently, we did a second job and we realised this partnership and arrangement had to be formalised; so we formed Fendercare Marine Ghana. Even though the joint-venture is relatively new, it has got a track record in Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire,†Mr. Yebesi told the B&FT.
Services the company provides include installing offshore and onshore terminals, FPSO support, mooring masters and pilotage, providing all manner of vessels, among others.
He said the presence of Fendercare is a boost to the country’s oil and gas industry as it will help in the provision of world-class support services, particularly to the Kwame Nkrumah FPSO which is one of the major equipments being used in the Jubilee Field’s operations.
Fendercare Marine, founded in 1988, is part of James Fisher and Sons plc. -- and its range of products and services draws on the extensive resources and experience of its worldwide, multi-industry group.
The company has an established presence in Australia, Middle East, Europe, South America and Africa.
Its marine services extend to the most complex challenges: including facilities management, search and rescue operations, remotely-operated submersible vehicles, and inspection and monitoring services.
