Blu Telecommunications, a new Ghanaian owned and managed 4G telecoms company yet to launch in the country, surprised visitors to the Accra Mall this month with superior internet access as a way sharing in the month of love and to create public awareness of the company's product.
Within 24 hours on entering the Mall, the visitors had access to a 3G broadband that allowed them to watch and download videos and movies, as well as browse the internet for free.
Tony Burkson, Head of Brand and Communications, Blu Telecommunications, in an interview with B&FT, said the campaign is to give Ghanaians, and in this case, those who came to the Mall, a taste of the sort of internet experience that they stand to enjoy once signed onto the 4G broadband which is yet to be launched.
"4G LTE broadband is up to 10 times faster than 3G, which is what Ghanaians are used to. Our 4G LTE services will bring broadband speeds that have never been seen in Ghana, at affordable prices," he said.
"With the new product we are bringing to the market, Ghanaians can browse the internet, watch movies and videos online, as well as download at fast speed with no interruption. It is a whole new broadband experience," he said.
Tara Squire, Chief Commercial Officer, Blu Telecommunications, said: Providing free WiFi is very much about enhancing the experience for the numerous visitors who visit the Mall every day, and we have already achieved that.
"Through this campaign, we have had really positive feedback on the service."
