Tamale — Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama has donated 600 bags of rice and assorted items to Muslims in Yendi and its surrounding communities in the Yendi municipality of the Northern Region.
These items, worth GH?10,000 were meant to support beneficiaries as they celebrate the Eid-Ul-Adha festival.
Alhaji Farouk who made the presentation yesterday, said the gesture was part of his social responsibility to the people.
He stressed that as a son of the area, he would not spare any effort to marshal the needed resources to assist his people, especially the needy.
Alhaji Farouk, son of the late former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, said he was always delighted in supporting his people.
He said it was important for the well endowed in the society to assist the less privileged, and urged Muslims to endeavour to share with the needy in their localities.
"Please let us support and assist each other for we are not equal," Alhaji Farouk stated.
He appealed to the people, especially Muslims, to always pray for peace and unity, in Yendi in particular, and the country in general.
"I appeal to my Muslim brothers to continue to use the blessings of this Eid to pray for continued peace and tranquillity in the country," Alhaji Farouk added.
He called for peaceful co-existence towards development.
Abukari Iddrisu, a beneficiary of the donation, thanked Alhaji Farouk for the gesture, wishing him well in his endeavours.
