The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana (NMCG) has cautioned the public against transacting business with fraudulent persons using the council's name and logo to defraud people on Facebook.
A statement issued by the council in Accra yesterday, further warned nursing and midwifery trainees and practitioners especially that, any information displayed on the Nurses and Midwifery Council Facebook page was not from the NMCG, adding that any person who transacts business with the managers of the page do so at their own risk.
It said that the Facebook page operating with the council's logo and the name Nurses and Midwifery Council, was not the official Facebook page of the NMCG.
The statement noted that the managers of the fraudulent Facebook page were exchanging several correspondences with innocent citizens requesting nursing and midwifery trainees and practitioners to call some unidentified telephone numbers to transact business on behalf of the NMCG.
It urged the public to note that at all announcements and information emanating from the council would be published on its website, Facebook page and other official social media handles.
The statement advised the public to visit the council's official website (www.nmc.gov.gh) or contact 0302-522909/10, 0302-541423, 0501079037 (Call Centre), 0200862772(WhatsApp) and social media handles including NMCGH_Official on Twitter for further information about the council.
It further called for the support of the public to arrest the fraudsters to help curb the menace of fraud.
