United Democratic Party leader Adama Barrow has been sworn-in as the President of The Gambia at the nation’s embassy in Dakar, Senegal Thursday.
He was sworn in by the head of the Gambian Bar Association in the presence of representatives from ECOWAS and the AU.
Barrow described his inauguration as the break of the dawn of “a new era” for the people of that country in a twitter post a minute to midnight Wednesday January 18, 2017.

And right after the ceremony he tweeted;
This is a victory of the Gambian nation. Our national flag will fly high among those of the most democratic nations of the world. #Gambia pic.twitter.com/QRGZg1gzbs

Yahya Jammeh who lost the election to Barrow in December 2016 has refused to step down.
An ECOWAS mediation committee Co-Chaired by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and former Ghanaian president, John Mahama has failed in its efforts to get Jammeh, who governed The Gambia for 22-years to relinquish power.
Barrow has been letting his voice heard by the Gambain people via social media updates.
