Director General of the National Management Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Major RTD Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon has disclosed that he inherited an empty warehouse meant for the organization from his predecessor.
In an interview on TV3’s Hot Issues, Sunday, April 13, 2025, Dr. Kuyon said he immediately had to strike a deal with some trusted suppliers to provide the warehouse with some items for the time being in anticipation of possible disasters during the rainy season.
“I want to say that I inherited an empty warehouse but quickly what I did was to talk to some trusted suppliers that give us some buffer stock so that we put it down because we are expecting disaster.
“We are expecting issues happen based on the information we had received earlier,” he noted.
He added: “Let’s get few things there whiles we go through a process of reaffirming your contract with the organization but help us in this regard.”
Dr. Kuyon further explained that a committee has been set up to audit stores, transport and other departments and persons found responsible for dubious acts will face the law.
“When I takeover an office, yes, I investigate to find out people who are culpable in wrongdoing but that is not my worry because it is my duty to ensure that the organization continues to function or deliver its mandate.
“So I have set up some committee to do the store audit, some are doing the transport audit to know why it was this way and those found culpable, we will deal with them by law,” he added.
