Veteran broadcaster and entertainment personality Andy Dosty has disclosed that multiple award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale once expressed strong interest in signing King Paluta to his label, long before the rapper became well-known.
Speaking on the Asetena Pa Podcast hosted by Akoto Mansa on YouTube, Andy Dosty recounted that Shatta’s desire to sign King Paluta was after he featured King Paluta and other artistes on the 2020 hit single “Ahodwo Las Vegas”.
“The person that wanted to sign Paluta was Shatte Wale. He really wanted to sign him. At that time, no one knew Paluta, he was not a well-known artiste,” he said.
Andy Dosty recounted how he had constant conversations with Shatta Wale, discussing strategies to develop the Kumasi-based rapper’s brand and the level of investment needed for King Paluta.
“At the time they released “Ahodwo Las Vegas”, I remember we would talk for an hour discussing Paluta. What can we do to his career? How we could market him and the cost of investment,” Andy Dosty added.
Andy Dosty further noted that King Paluta had no idea that such discussions were being held about his future at the time.
“Paluta was not even aware. We had to do research and make some calls…we had an extensive conversation about Paluta not once, not twice. It was constant,” he stated.
The presenter disclosed that despite the strained relationship with Shatta, he was instrumental in facilitating the collaboration between both artistes on the song “Adiepena.”
He recounted introducing King Paluta to Shatta Wale at an apartment in Kumasi, facilitating the collaboration for their ‘Adiepenaa’ song.
