The President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) and the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, Samson Deen, has donated food items to Paralympic federations and their athletes, urging them to remain focused and united during Ramadan.
Representatives from five federations, alongside athlete reps from various sports, came together in a show of unity and collaboration within the Paralympic community as they joined the president in distributing gift items across Accra.
The donation took place at the African Paralympic Committee premises in Accra on Thursday morning, with key federation heads in attendance. The Ghana Paralympic President donated a variety of essential food supplies, including 100 bags of rice, 50 gallons of oil, 50 bags of sugar and salt, 50 tins of tomatoes, and other items to support the athletes.
The athletes, moved by Deen’s generosity, expressed their gratitude and vowed to continue making the country proud, acknowledging the significant impact of the donation.
Representing the Wheelchair Tennis team, Bridget Nartey, a wheelchair tennis player, extended appreciation to Samson Deen on behalf of all para-athletes for the thoughtful gesture.
NPC-Ghana General Secretary, Henry Larbi, also thanked the athletes for attending and assured them that the donations would be extended to other regions as well.
“We’re starting with para-athletes in Accra, but soon, we will expand to other regions, ensuring that more athletes benefit from this initiative,” he stated, expressing optimism about the future growth of the Paralympic community.
