Ghana take on Chad on Friday, some 72 hours before they face Madagascar in Morocco.
The Black Stars will now have a little more to think about than just the Chad game after Madagascar recorded a resounding 4-1 win over Comoros.
A lopsided game saw the away side run out victors after laying siege in the home side’s half.
After recovering from an early setback, Madagascar dominated possession and made it reflect in the scoreline.
Two goals in either half meant Madagascar ended the game with a comfortable 4-1 win, a victory that sends them top of group I – a point more than Comoros (2nd) and Ghana (3rd).
Madagascar have picked up an impressive 10 points out of a possible 15, with their only slip-ups coming against Mali and Ghana.
A chance to enact revenge against Ghana, the only team to have defeated Madagascar, is on the horizon as both sides prepare to square off on Monday in Morocco.
Revenge may necessarily not be on the minds of Madagascar, although the allure of qualifying for a first-ever World Cup may be very enticing.
Having progressed to the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 2019, Madagascar will be looking to defy the odds again and nick a World Cup berth ahead of Ghana and Mali.
