Nathan Kofi Boakye, a retired Commissioner of Police (COP) and an influential member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) security team, has called on party supporters to resist division driven by greed as the NDC prepares to form the next government.
Speaking at the Ashanti regional zone two campaign team’s victory party in Kumasi, he emphasised the importance of unity in achieving long-term success.
“If we care for one another, we will enter the 2028 elections with stronger strategies and renewed energy. We must avoid being divided by greed,” COP (retired) Boakye stated.
He urged members to uphold solidarity and support the elected president and appointees to ensure the party’s governance is effective and inclusive.
While acknowledging that not every supporter will receive an appointment, he cautioned appointees against using their positions to intimidate others.
“Those who do receive appointments must not use their positions to intimidate others. Demonstrate leadership and care for your fellow party members,” he advised.
Kofi Boakye also praised NDC supporters for their hard work and resilience, which led to the party’s victory over the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general elections.
“At the moment, we walk with our heads held high because we have defeated the NPP in the 2024 election – a victory we are all sharing due to our hard work,” he said.
He encouraged members to channel the same energy into supporting President-elect John Dramani Mahama and his appointees, ensuring their governance translates into meaningful change for Ghanaians.
“Let’s use the same energy to support our elected president in bringing about positive change, which will ensure even greater rewards from Ghanaians in the 2028 elections,” he added.
He further reminded party members of the collective mission to build a prosperous and inclusive Ghana under the leadership of President-elect Mahama.
