Samuel Aboabire, the chairman of Greater Accra Regional Football Association, has appealed to government to reserve one of the national stadiums for special events like national team matches.
According to the renowned football administrator, this will help to curtail the continuous banning of stadiums in the country to host high-profile matches including that of the national teams.
Ghana nearly had its matches in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers hosted abroad due to lack of certified stadium in the country.
Speaking to Alfred Takyi Mensah on Onua Tv, Mr Aboabire also argued that assigning a stadium for solely national team matches will also improve the performances of the teams.
“I will urge the government to allocate one of the national stadiums for national team matches. I believe this will stop CAF from banning our stadiums.
“If only the government will fund the cost, I believe a national stadium like Wembley will also help improve the performance of our national teams.”
