Sunyani West MP-elect applauds Mahama for appointing Ghana’s first female Veep

Member of Parliament-elect for Sunyani West Constituency, Millicent Amankwah Yeboah, has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to President-elect John Dramani Mahama for appointing Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate in the 2024 General Election.

Following the declaration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as winners of the 2024 presidential elections, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is set to make history as Ghana’s first female Vice President.

Reflecting on this groundbreaking moment, Millicent Amankwah Yeboah stated, “I want to say a very big thank you to John Mahama for choosing a female as his running mate and now Vice President.”

She further highlighted the potential impact of having a woman in such a high office, noting, “I think there will be much more engagement in women empowerment since we have a female Vice President in the Jubilee House.”

The Sunyani West MP-elect in an interview on 3FM on Tuesday, December 17, also addressed perceptions of politics being a challenging space for women, asserting that such views do not deter her. “I don’t see women in politics as a risky game because of how prepared my mind is,” she remarked.
