Businessman and entrepreneur Senyo Hosi has expressed his disappointment in the Electoral Commission (EC) and its chairperson, Jean Mensa, over the delay in announcing the presidential results.
This criticism comes on the back of the fact that the NPP’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, conceded defeat barely 16 hours after the polls ended.
Speaking on TV3’s Ghana Decides programme on Monday, December 9, Mr. Hosi remarked, “At this stage, if Bawumia could tell he’s lost within 24 hours, how much more Jean Mensa?”
Hosi went on to describe the entire process as a farewell for Jean Mensa, stating, “The whole thing, in all honesty, was a farewell for me, so Jean, thank you very much.”
He also criticized the EC for spending a significant amount of money while delivering what he described as an archaic official declaration.
Bawumia managed to secure only 41.61% of votes in the 2024 elections
Jean Mensa’s announcement of the election results was indeed a historic moment.
On December 9, 2024, at 6 PM, she declared John Dramani Mahama as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana, with Mahama securing 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total votes.
Mensa’s final words, “It is finished,” symbolized the end of the election process and the culmination of months of campaigning and hard work.
