In Ghana football, fluctuating fortunes has become not just a term but a way of life for many traditional clubs.
One moment they are in the top flight, rocking the big boys and rubbing shoulders with the very best. Then the next moment, they are stuck in the lower divisions, and punching their way up.
One such club is Swedru All Blacks.
All Black are now seeking another return to the elite division and tasked with ensuring that is former player Joe Agyemang, an assistant coach of the side.
He was thrust into the role after tragedy struck following the death of head coach, Felix Tamakloe.
Their start to the season has been immense even in the face of the tragedy.
“It’s been a tough journey but in everything, when you go with high hopes and determination, you can succeed.
“After the demise of my boss, Felix Tamakloe, I have been backed by the management and I have done a good job so far,” Joe Agyemang said.
All Blacks have won 5 games, drew 3 making it 18 points in 8 games but the season is a long journey and Agyemang is fully aware of that.
“It’s a daunting task to qualify any team in this world but that is to the support of our management, things are okay now.
“After every match, a day or two days after, you will see your bonus, you receive latest by 27th of every month, it is like you’re working in a company,” he indicated.
And because of the form, the club’s fans are beginning to believe as evident both in the atmosphere on match days and in their words.
“We have always wanted to qualify to the Premier League. We have a great team this season and hopefully, we will finally get the qualification,” a fan said.
Which ever way it ends, this is definitely a story worth keeping an eye on.
