Poet and Literary Coach, Philip Boakye Dua Oyinka also known as Nana Asaase has shared his experiences and challenges as a poet.
Nana Asaase who has been a professional poet for over 6 years said in all his career, he gives out the best performance when facing the challenge of forgetting his lines.
The spoken word artiste explained that during such situations, he looks up to the invited guests who have traveled from far and near and maintains composure not to disappoint the audience.
“When you forget your lines, those are the days when you have the best performance. Do you know why, every time I am on stage I am fighting for my life, that’s how I view it because you are only as good as your last performance.
“So, once I get on that stage till I leave and that applause comes out, I cannot be myself. Until it is done and the person who invited you appreciates my performance,” he said on Showbiz 360, November 16.
The renowned poet recounted an incident in which a fellow Ghanaian who had introduced him to a foreign client had secretly lowered the sum paid to him, even though the client had already paid the initial invoice.
“I was once on a call with a client who somebody had introduced me to some years back. I received my amount in Ghana cedis, apparently this person had billed over the top in other currency so when we sat down to have the meeting and I sent out my current bill they were like what.
“So the client had to come back and pay extra because we know what you are bringing on board. So in all their heads that’s how much I was paid previously when they had engaged my services. Unfortunately, our own people are the ones who cut off the money,” he disclosed.
Nana Asaase will have his ‘Bagyina’ reloaded event on November 22 at the La Palm Royal Beach hotel as part of his Mental Pictures series show.
