Guinness World Records (GWR) has dismissed the longest eating marathon record attempt announced by Ghanaian content creator, Clementina Nkrumah, popularly known as Afua Nash.
Afua Nash had announced her intention to set a world record for the longest eating marathon which is scheduled to start on Monday, November 11, 2024.
She was looking forward to attempt a four-day, seven-hour, and 20-minute non-stop eating marathon.
However, the GWR responding to a post about her record attempt, explained that it no longer recognizes records for extended eating marathons.
GWR commenting under a Twitter post which shared a flyer of Afua Nash’s record attempt said it’s guidelines for such records have been updated and no longer considers duration of longer eating marathon.
According to GWR, consumption records are now based on the rate of consumption rather than duration, with attempts typically lasting only up to three minutes depending on the type of food.
“We no longer monitor records for eating over a long period of time, though we did in the past.
“Nowadays, we still have consumption records but they are based on the rate of consumption and so are limited to a short time frame of up to three minutes, depending on the food,” GWR said.
