Western Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Kirk Mensah, has urged members of the party in the Effia Constituency to take action and not await miracles.
He emphasized that securing victory in the December 7 elections requires hard work, not divine intervention alone.
He made this statement while addressing a gathering at the campaign launch of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nassam, in Effia.
The Effia Constituency is one of five key areas in the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is aggressively targeting to win from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the first time in the upcoming December 7, 2024, elections. Historically a stronghold of the NPP, the Constituency presents a significant challenge for the NDC.
The NDC’s strategic focus on Effia Constituency reflects the party’s determination to expand its influence in the Western Region. With Ghana heading to the polls to elect a president and 276 Members of Parliament, the dynamics of this election are uniquely poised.
In order to achieve this, the Western Regional Communication officer of NDC, Richard Kirk Mensah, urged party members in the Constituency to adopt the approach of Jehovah’s Witnesses to secure victory in the upcoming elections.
“Effia Constituency, we’re poised to win this seat for the first time as party members, let’s shift gears after our campaign launch. No miracles from heaven are expected, but through house-to-house, door-to-door campaigns, inspired by Jehovah’s Witnesses’ persistence, we’ll earn people’s trust and confidence. When they can’t reach you at home, they’ll keep coming back – that’s the dedication we need to secure victory”. He stated
The Deputy Minority Leader, Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah, Western Regional Chairman of NDC, Nana Kojo Toku and other executives attended the launch, sharing their concerns and outlining the party’s vision for the future.
Mr Armah Kofi Buah challenged the party members “Despite your current Member of Parliament, Joseph Cudjoe, holding prominent positions as Deputy Minister of Energy and now Minister for Public Private Enterprises, the Effia Constituency still grapples with darkness. It’s time to reassess our voting patterns and consider a change to address the lingering issues in your community.”
Nana Kojo ToKu called for peace and unity among the party members” “For the sake of our beloved NDC party, let’s put aside whatever differences or constituency issues that are driving us apart and hindering our victory. I implore everyone to come together, unite, and let’s achieve a massive win this time around.”
Parliamentary Candidate for Effia Constituency, Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nassam, expressed confidence in his ability to bring significant positive change to the area. He believes his leadership will make a meaningful impact and that he is the ideal candidate to represent the Constituency.
“For nearly 24 years, Effia township has lacked vital road construction. However, through my relentless advocacy and community-focused radio program, I’ve successfully brought attention to this critical issue. I’m proud to say that my influence has played a significant role in securing developmental projects for these communities, transforming the landscape and improving lives.”
As part of his youth development initiative, Abdul Majeed Iddrisu Nassam has empowered young entrepreneurs in Effia constituency. He donated 15 sewing machines to 15 talented young women and 10 industrial sewing machines to local masquerade clubs, fostering creativity and economic growth.
“Four months ago, I supported the Hairdressers Association by donating nine hair dryers to nine graduating ladies. Today, I’m extending similar support to seamstresses. This initiative, dubbed ‘Effia Development,’ aims to empower young entrepreneurs, foster constituency growth, and create employment opportunities”.
“By providing these resources, I’m helping to reduce the number of individuals on the streets, which often becomes a burden on society”.
Don’t be misled by claims of 200 jobs creation. Ask for specifics – what type of work, and what benefits come with it?” He asked.
