Former Ghana Premier League champions, Hearts of Oak, were once again held to a goalless draw, this time against Aduana FC, in the opening game of Matchweek 5 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.
This marks the second consecutive goalless draw for the Phobians, following their stalemate with Nations FC last Sunday at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.
Despite their resolve to avoid a repeat of last season’s struggles, Hearts of Oak have only secured one win so far in the 2024/25 campaign, much to the frustration of their supporters. Fans are now calling for the dismissal of coach Aboubakar Ouattara, with one stating, “The club is bigger than him. He should just go.”
Ouattara had previously asked for constructive criticism after the match against Nations FC, urging fans to be supportive without resorting to insults. However, the ongoing poor results have only intensified the pressure on the Ivorian coach.
Despite having a man advantage following Rich Sackey’s red card for Aduana in the 58th minute, the Phobians were unable to capitalise, leaving both sides to share the spoils.
Hearts of Oak now sit 10th on the table with five points, while Aduana remain in 17th place with just three points after five games. The next game of the Phobians is scheduled against Young Apostles in Week 6.
Aduana FC will look to turn their fortunes around in their upcoming clash against Dreams FC.
