The Ministry of Health has requested that the Office of the Attorney General commences investigation into the alleged abandonment of a patient in a bush at Gomoa, Ojobi leading to her death.
The Ministry in a statement on October 2 said the matter has also been reported to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service.
“However, the Ministry is of the view that in light of the gravity of the issue captured in the report, involving the loss of life, further investigations should be carried out by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice,” excerpts of the statement read.
This comes after the Ghana Health Service had conducted its investigation into the matter and concluded that the medical officers alleged to have neglected the patient “did not act appropriately.”
The GHS after its investigations made some recommendations to the Ministry. Per the statement from the Ministry, the full report of the investigations by the GHS is available on its website.
