Two Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) wheelchair players Emmanuel Amobire and Henry Adjapong have left Ghana for the ITF international Wheelchair Tennis Juniors Tournament.
The duo who were accompanied by Coach Philip Plange left the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on September 19, 2024, to participate in the nation’s first ITF international Wheelchair Tennis Juniors Tournament which come off in Johannesburg, South Africa.
The team will first participate in the ITF Johan Cryuff Africa Wheelchair Tennis Training Camp which is scheduled for September 20-22.
The competition has junior players from about 10 other African countries.
After the camp, the Ghanaian duo, aged 15 will participate in the Ithembelihle ITF Junior International Tournament slated for September 23-25, 2024 in Johannesburg South Africa.
The team is poised to make history as the first Ghanaian wheelchair tennis pair to participate in an ITF wheelchair tennis international tournament.
They received the backing and support of the ITF Wheelchair Tennis Department, the GTF Board and the GTF Wheelchair Tennis Committee as reported by Henry Larbi, the National Coordinator of GTF Wheelchair Tennis.
