The Premier League bounced back after the international break with lots of exciting games in gameweek four of the 2024/25 season.
The pick of the bunch was the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Spurs, which ended in a 1-0 victory for the Gunners.
3Sports assesses how Ghanaian players performed across the weekend
Arsenal, Thomas Partey
Partey played a pivotal role as Arsenal overcame fierce rivals Tottenham in a 1-0 win at the Spurs Stadium on Sunday.
The absence of Declan Rice due to suspension and Martin Ødeegard due to an ankle injury meant Partey had to put in a shift in the middle of the park alongside Jorginho.
The Ghanaian completed the joint-most tackles (3) of any Arsenal player.
Bournemouth, Antoine Semenyo
Semenyo failed to get in on the act against Chelsea at the Vitality Stadium as Bournemouth lost 1-0.
The forward was a pale shadow of himself and couldn’t add to his three-goal involvements thus far. He lasted the entire game and won five of his 10 ground duels contested.
Crystal Palace, Jeffery Schlupp
Palace head coach Oliver Glasner threw the Ghanaian on with the Eagles trailing 2-1 against Leicester City.
Mateta scored his second goal deep in stoppage time as Palace earned a hard-fought draw.
Schlupp lasted for a minute and had little time to leave his mark on the game.
Leicester, Jordan Ayew & Fatawu Issahaku
Jordan Ayew went off to a standing ovation after he worked his socks off on his return to Selhurst Park in Leicester’s 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace.
The forward lasted 83 minutes, created one big chance and won 10 of his 18 contested duels, whereas Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was given a run 18 minutes from time, as he replaced Stephy Mavididi.
The forward’s late cameo had little bearing on the outcome of the game.
Meanwhile, Kamaldeen Sulemana is still out for Southampton with injury, while Brighton and Hove Albion’s Tariq Lamptey did not make the squad against Ipswich.
