Illegal Mining: Some CSOS criticize Parliament for not holding Gov’t accountable

Illegal mining, or “galamsey,” continues to wreak havoc on Ghana’s environment and communities. Civil society organizations are now accusing Parliament of failing to hold the government accountable for its response to this crisis.

Despite the widespread destruction caused by illegal mining, many believe that the government has not taken sufficient action to address the problem. CSOs argue that Parliament has been too lenient, allowing the government to evade its responsibilities.
