Sintex Ghana has, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility and distributed 45,000 liters of water to residents in the Nima enclave.
The community has for the past five years struggled with inadequate water supply, despite several complaints to relevant stakeholders.
In an Interview with TV3, the campaign ambassador for the ‘ Sintex is Coming Free Water Campaign’, Giovanni Caleb, announced plans to extend the initiative to other communities soon.
“A lot of people are complaining about how their taps are running dry, and how they are unable to get water for just basic daily use. Being one of the leading producers in the space we felt it was just right for us to support them. Today is just Nima, but in the next couple of weeks, or months, you never know, we might just be in your area. So, by all means, go on to our social media platforms Sintex.com, and nominate your area and we will be there,” he said.
For residents in the community, the gesture by Sintex Ghana gives great relief.
“All I have to say is thank Sintex very much for coming to our aid. This is a very big relief to us because we are tired of always having to go long distances in search of water. At least, we can rest for some time.” Osman Mohammed a resident said.
The Assembly Member for the Electoral Area also took the opportunity to commend Sintex Ghana for their generosity while calling on other corporate bodies to emulate the same.
“We are grateful to Sintex for their commitment to our community. This is a perfect example of how corporate entities can support local development,” Umari Sanda Mohammed stated.
