Kylian Mbappe scored his first two La Liga goals for Real Madrid as they secured a 2-0 victory against Real Betis at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The France forward, who joined from Paris Saint-Germain this summer, opened the scoring in the 67th minute after receiving a clever backheel pass from Federico Valverde. He then doubled the lead by converting a penalty just eight minutes later, sending Betis goalkeeper Rui Silva the wrong way.
After failing to find the net in his previous three La Liga appearances, Mbappe’s goals marked a significant moment for the 25-year-old, who had previously scored on his debut for the club in the UEFA Super Cup against Atalanta.
His first goal came from his 25th shot of the La Liga season, with the penalty following as his 26th attempt—more shots than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues.
Real Betis had opportunities to score early in the match, with Abde Ezzalzouli heading wide from close range and Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque forcing a save with his first touch after coming off the bench.
However, it was Madrid who dominated possession and created multiple chances, with Mbappe having seven shots before finally scoring. Eder Militao and Valverde also tested Silva, while Vinicius Jr. hit the post with a deflected effort.
With this win, Real Madrid remains unbeaten after four league games, although they sit four points behind
