Ghana coach Otto Addo and his assistants emerged unscathed after being involved in a serious road accident.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) confirmed the incident on Sunday, following reports that Addo, John Paintsil, and Fatau Dauda had been in an accident.
The coaching trio was returning from Tarkwa, where they had monitored the Champion of Champions match between Samartex and Nsoatreman, with Samartex securing a 1-0 victory in the season curtain-raiser.
Unfortunately, on their way back to Accra, the former Dortmund assistant coach and his team were involved in a serious road accident.
The GFA statement explained that the Black Stars technical team’s “vehicle avoided a head-on collision with a pickup truck which veered off into its lane, causing some damage to the vehicle.”
“We are happy to report that all three members of the technical team are in stable condition and will undergo further medical assessments, as a precautionary measure, upon their return to Accra,” the statement read.

Despite the scare, the trio is expected to be available for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Ghana is set to face Angola in Kumasi on Thursday, September 5, before travelling to Morocco for the second game against Niger.
The GFA added, “We are confident that the technical team will be in good shape and ready to lead the Black Stars in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger. We appreciate the concern shown by the public and ask for your continued support and prayers as we prepare for these important matches.”
