Various speakers at the Cathedral Church of the Most Holy Trinity youth career fair have encouraged the youth to champion human rights, embrace entrepreneurship and strive for excellence as they journey through life.
The youth career fair was part of the Church’s 130th anniversary celebration which brought together influential speakers to engage young attendees.
The event, themed “Discovering the Whole-Person Calling: Mind, Body, Spirit,” aimed to inspire and equip the youth for a well-rounded future.
Director of Amnesty International Ghana, Genevieve Partington emphasized the critical role of young people in understanding and championing human rights.
She highlighted the importance of tackling issues with a human rights-based approach, noting that understanding and advocating for human rights creates a more inclusive society.
“Human rights simply means that you are entitled to certain rights and privileges, and you create a more inclusive society,” Partington stated.
She pointed out that despite efforts, basic rights like access to education and healthcare are still not universally available, especially in rural areas.
She stressed the need for the youth to be educated about their rights and to promote a society devoid of discrimination.
Chief Executive Officer of Sparkxx Foods and Beverages, Derrick Yiini Annoh adviced aspiring entrepreneurs emphasizing the need for a daily to-do list as part of a business plan.
“When you start a business, the idea must be written down… have a plan. You go as far as 20 years, 30 years for your life and also for your business,” he advised.
Mr. Shadrack Sarpei-Kwadey, CEO of Bankyekrom, inspired attendees to aim for excellence in every aspect of their lives.
He shared personal anecdotes to illustrate the value of perseverance and dedication.
He recounted his own challenges and experiences to highlight the importance of working hard and overcoming obstacles.
“Learn to do hard things… Being that you’ve come back from school, you are tired, but you know you have an exam. You are aiming for excellence,” he said, encouraging the youth to stay focused and resilient.
The career fair was part of the church’s broader mission to support and nurture the holistic development of young people.
The event provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on human rights, entrepreneurship, and personal growth, leaving the attendees inspired to pursue their goals with determination and integrity.
