Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, is surprised at the ban placed on the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources who is also lawmaker for Damongo Samuel Abu Jinapor from visiting any palace in Gonjaland.
In a post on his Facebook page, he asked “Why? We still do these things? What has Abu Jinapor done to warrant this ancient edict?”
In another post on this same issue, he said “l see we love our religion, politics and traditions just the way they are. Sorry, all you ruffled royals and obedient subjects in all of Ghana, keep your treasured trove. Long may Yagbonwura Bui kunuto Soale Jewu reign and live.”
The King of the Gonja kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu Soale who issued this ban described the lawmaker as a threat to the peace and unity in Gonjaland.
He was speaking at the Jakpa Palace after a demonstration by the youth of Gonjaland against the MP.
The King, through his interpreter, enumerated some of the reasons for the ban.
He stated that he will deal with any chief who will welcome the Damongo lawmaker to his palace.
“Enough of his arrogance and disrespect. I will deal with any Chief who will entertain him or in the company of any government official to his palace,” the Yagbonwura stressed.
I don’t have any interest in Damongo chieftaincy affairs – Abu Jinapor
“We wish to echo the voice of the Yagbonwura as was said at the Jakpa Palace, and on the basis of the above-listed instances of disrespect and insubordination, championed and led by Hon Abu Jinapor, that, the King would never grant audience to any Government delegation, political party or any person who pays him a visit, once it includes Hon. Samuel Abu Jinapor.
Until he learns his tradition as a royal and learn how to respect the authority of the Yagbonwura and this statement is final and binding on all paramountcies within the Gonja kingdom “
