The Trades Union Congress has urged government to introduce a price control system to check sky rocketing of prices of food items on the market.
Deputy Secretary General of TUC, Joshua Ansah who spoke exclusively with TV3’s Labour correspondent Daniel Opoku says, without the price controls workers and Ghanaians will suffer the sky rocketing prices of goods.
“Leaders must try and do something, today you go and buy a basket of tomatoes which use to sell at 100 Ghana is now over 200 Ghana where is the salary to buy.
“If somebody is taking less than six hundred cedis in a month and goes to the market and tomato is 300 Ghana and over are we magicians to stay in this country, all what we are saying is that government must see eye ball to eye ball with workers in this country and try and do something about our market situation”.
“We think government should bring back the price controls which will stabilize the market and we are ready for us to dialogue to ensure that the economic hardship on workers are reduced,” he stated on June 13.
