Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has tipped his former teammate Laryea Kingston to succeed in his coaching career following his exploits with the Black Starlets.
The former Ghana international was appointed to lead the Ghana U17 side a few months ago and has succeeded in leading the team on a promising run.
In the ongoing West Africa Football Union (WAFU) Zone B U17 tournament, Ghana have scored seven goals in two games and conceded just one. They beat Ivory Coast 5-1 and secured a 2-0 win over Benin to proceed to the semi-finals of the competition.
After the game against Benin, Asamoah Gyan was full of praise for the former Hearts winger.
“I told this man he will be one of the best coaches in Ghana and beyond, the first time I saw his tactics. This is the beginning of greatness. It’s just a process. Keep going( MACHINE)” he wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Laryea KInsgron after the game admitted that Benin was a tough opponent to outclass.
According to him, the team leveraged their opponent’s previous game against Ivory Coast to get a significant win.

“This game was very difficult for us. People thought it would be a walk in the park, but it wasn’t. It was a very difficult match,” said Kingston.
“We were very lucky that we saw their game against Ivory Coast. So that gave us an advantage to see what they are bringing on board. There are a lot of good teams at this tournament.”
Ghana now await their semi-final opponent as they aim to make it to the final of the tournament. A place in the final will secure their tickets to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) having missed out on the competition since 2017.
