Ghana’s 4×100 Relay Team has appealed for financial support as they kick off their preparations for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games following their qualification in the Bahamas.
The quartet, comprised of Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Paul Amoah, Isaac Botsio, and Ibrahim Fuseini, secured qualification at the World Athletics Relays last Sunday.
Despite facing initial setbacks, including a failed attempt at the 2023 African Games earlier this year and a dropped baton during their first race in the Bahamas, they redeemed themselves by finishing first in their subsequent race, earning them a spot in Paris.

However, they have expressed significant concerns, particularly regarding funding. “We want money,” stated Ibrahim Fuseini, while Benjamin Azamati emphasised, “The other countries, Denmark, Great Britain, and the others, had two weeks of camping in Florida prior to these games. But we only arrived here on Thursday, and we were supposed to run on Saturday, meaning we only had one day to train, and these are the guys we compete with.”

“So, we need that much ample time to prepare and face these countries, and of course, it comes with money,” Azamati conveyed to Joy Sports.
Joseph Paul Amoah echoed the team’s sentiment, stating, “We need ample time and resources.”
