Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has emphasised the team’s unwavering focus on their upcoming Champions League semi-final clash against Bayern Munich, stating that they deliberately refrained from celebrating their 36th La Liga win over the weekend.
Despite clinching the La Liga title with a victory against Cadiz on Saturday, Carvajal revealed that the squad opted not to celebrate as their sights are firmly set on the Champions League final.
“Not celebrating was the best thing to do,” said the Spain international.
“There’s a vital game and there will be time to celebrate at the weekend – that’s why we took that decision.
“We’re having a great year. We’re very excited for the Champions League. We’re two games away from lifting it again.
“The dressing room knows it – in the streets they’re giving us encouragement so we can dream of our 15th [European title].”

Madrid secured a 2-2 draw in the first leg of the semi-final in Munich, with Vinicius Jr. netting twice. Coach Carlo Ancelotti echoed Carvajal’s sentiments, expressing confidence in his squad’s ability to overcome Bayern.
“I am confident because this is Real Madrid, we have this squad, I’m confident in the fans who will help us,” Ancelotti said.
“These are similar clubs, they have great history and a lot of success in the Champions League,” the Italian coach said. “We respect them. They did better than us in the first leg.”
Despite acknowledging Bayern’s superiority in the first leg, Ancelotti affirmed his belief in Real Madrid’s capabilities.
Additionally, he confirmed that Andriy Lunin would retain his place in goal for the crucial match, despite Thibaut Courtois returning from injury and keeping a clean sheet over the weekend.
As anticipation mounts for the showdown, both players and fans alike are eagerly anticipating the opportunity to continue their quest for European glory.
