A Professor at the University of Ghana Business School, Kobby Mensah has said that even polls that failed to publish their methodology were welcomed by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because they favoured the party.
He is therefore wondering why some persons are raising issues against the methodology of the latest Global InfoAnalytics Poll that puts the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama ahead of the New Patriotic Party NPP torchbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Prof Mensah indicated that the methodology and the questionnaire for the polls were all published for clarity therefore he does not get the concerns that are being raised.
The poll puts John Mahama at 54.3 percent, while Dr. Bawumia secured 34.6 percent. Leader of the Movement for Change Alan Kyerematen had 7.5 percent, while the New Force’s Nana Kwame Bediako polled 2.3 percent.
For the Central region, 94% of NPP voters intend to vote for DMB (much higher than in Ashanti), 3% for AKK and 1% NKB and 0% for JDM. Among NDC, JDM, 96%, 2% DMB.
Among floating voters, 54% for JDM, 23% for DMB, 2% for AKK and 6% for NKB. For those who did not disclose, 34%… pic.twitter.com/EleXc2AmqS

Following this poll, the Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Richard Ahiagbah raised concerns about the methodology.
“The value that we place on the outcome of this survey cannot be inclusive to the people of this country because the instrument itself can create problems due to people’s understanding of the questions asked.
“So therefore the answers they are giving, as to whether or not they are answering the question about the country moving in the right direction (which is relative when you translate into another language) is the issue.
“For me, the premium we should put on this should not be too high,” he said on Friday, April 5.
But speaking on the Ghana Tonight show on TV3 Monday April 8, Prof Mensah said “If you have issues with the methodology then somebody will ask you to point out what you think are the limitations of the methodology.
“We were in this country when very suspicious polls had been published by a certain name of an international organization that did not even publish the methodology, we had prominent members of the NPP going around touting that particular results.
“We had media houses actually reporting that particular results and now you have a poll that has published its methodology for everybody to read and even published the questionnaire.
“It is very difficult to understand what they mean by the methodology is not rigors.”
