Rescue efforts are underway in Konongo-Odumase in the Ashanti Region for three illegal miners trapped on Saturday afternoon.
The tree illegal miners were trapped after the pit they were mining in collapsed on them, 3news.com gathers.
One body has been retrieved so far with rescuers working to rescue the other two.
Konongo-Odumase is known as one of the prime gold-mining towns in Ghana.
But activities of small-scale illegal miners are rife.
Heavy-duty equipment were deployed on Saturday to rescue the trapped miners.
Residents who rushed to the site are praying all the three survive.
