The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante Akim South Constituency, Ibrahim Musah, says he is ready to lead the youth in the constituency to put their lives on the line for victory for former President John Dramani Mahama.
He said by his statement, they accept the Do-or-die mantra of the ex-president, stressing that the youth in the Constituency are ready to die for the opposition party.
“We are ready to die,” the Constituency Chairman stated, in Twi, on Friday, April 28 when former President Mahama called on delegates in his campaign tour of some constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
Addressing supporters at the Obogu Lorry Station, Mr Musah said they will do everything possible to claim the Asante Akim South seat for the first time for the NDC even if it will cost them their lives.
He assured Mr Mahama of a 100 percent votes from the Constituency in next month’s party primaries.
Taking his turn on the podium, Mr Mahama, addressing the delegates, insisted that the 2024 elections will be a do-or-die affair and by that, he explained, he does not mean machetes and cutlasses will be used by supporters.
He said it means the 2024 elections will be crucial in the history of Ghana.
Mr Mahama said when the NDC was in power, up till 2016, Ghanaians were more comfortable than they are today.
He welcomed the promise by the youth and said they will be able to afford the living standards when his party returns to power.
He stated how formerly parents are able to build for their children because cement bags are affordable.
“But how can the youth buy high-cost cement and even give shelter to children who will be given birth to?” he wondered.
Mr Mahama said the current government has nothing more to offer and so the mantle should be given back to the NDC.
