Former Asante Kotoko striker, Eric Bekoe has advised the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to hire the services of former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan to assist struggling attackers in the senior national team.
The former Sunderland forward last played for Ghana in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt where Ghana lost to Tunisia in the round of 16.
Since his exclusion, Black Stars have struggled to replace the 37-year-old, with the likes of Jordan Ayew, Caleb Ekuban, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, Abdul Majeed Waris and many more failing to take charge of Gyan’s position.
Bekoe believes even though Gyan doesn’t play anymore he could help curb the issue when appointed as a striker’s coach.
“Goal scoring is being learnt. Football is scientific now and can’t be compared to previous years. To me, it will be prudent to get strikers coach, in the person of Asamoah Gyan who is our all-time top scorer. I insist Gyan is made strikers coach of the Black Stars and God being so good, he’s got his license. He’s done it before and can help us solve our goal-scoring problems,” he told Angel TV
With 51 goals in 109 appearances, Asamoah Gyan is currently Ghana’s all-time top scorer and have several other goal-scoring records to his name including Africa’s top scorer at the World Cup.
