Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has expressed his opinion on who should be appointed as Ghana’s next coach.
Gyan, who has scored a record 51 goals in 109 appearances for Ghana, listed important qualities the new coach must have, such as being strict.
“We need an experienced coach, someone with strong credentials…Even if he is an inexperienced coach we should be able to identify what the coach has taught the players in terms of their style of play,” he told Dan Kwaku Yeboah on YouTube.
“You can take an inexperienced coach but make sure he understands the game, someone who will make the people understand his philosophy,” he added.
“Someone who can take charge, not someone who takes orders, you have to be strict and take charge of what you are doing,” Gyan added.
Otto Addo resigned in early December, leaving the position vacant, and so far, only former coach Kwesi Appiah has publicly stated that he has applied.
According to reports, Chris Hughton has applied for the position, with politician Sam George claiming that the Ghana Football Association has appointed the former Premier League manager as the Black Stars’ next manager.
