Entertainment journalist and host of 3FM’s Showbiz 927, Caleb Nii Boye, in sharing his thoughts on Sarkodie’s feature on the new version of legendary Bob Marley’s Stir It Up, admonished unhealthy comparisons among musicians.
Caleb Nii Boye, who has had years of experience in music dynamics, pointed out that pitching success against one another is detrimental to the growth of Ghana’s music industry.
“I would also want to task our boys on social media, the act of trying to compare collaborations with others that have actually happened before. Put a stop to it. We can only celebrate these collaborations and not compare them because, at the end of the day, this is Ghana. Nothing else but our country.”
Speaking on the newest, biggest news in our music space, Caleb noted that Sarkodie’s partnership with Bob Marley is a ground-breaking achievement in every right.
He stamped his position firmly with an “In fact, I can hit my chest and say this is the biggest to touch our soil” statement.
To buttress his point, Caleb pointed out other reggae contributions from Sarkodie, including a feature on one of Samini’s greatest dancehall hits. He also described Sarkodie as a versatile artiste worth celebrating.
“If you want to cast your mind back to that song he did with Samini, ‘Love Rocks’. His verse on that and this particular one with Bob Marley shows clearly our man has come far.”
