Ghana midfielder Iddrisu Baba will miss the 2022 World Cup in Qatar because of a hamstring injury.
Baba, who was expected to make the Black Stars’ final squad to be announced on Monday, will be unavailable due to an injury sustained in midweek.
The 26-year-old limped off during Real Mallorca’s win over Atletico Madrid in the Spanish LaLiga on Wednesday.
“Baba has a muscle issue. I asked him because he didn’t enter the locker room very long and I asked him if he felt the tear was very big, but he told me no. We have to wait for the evaluation and see what the doctor [says] because it is rare for Baba to get bored. He must have something because that boy is very brave,” Real Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre told reporters.
The defensive midfielder was on the bench for Mallorca’s Copa del Rey victory over CD Autol on Saturday, but it has been revealed to 3Sports that he won’t be fully fit for the tournament.
