Felix Afena-Gyan will start Cremonese’s Serie A match against AC Milan on Tuesday after impressing coach Massimiliano Alvini in training.
Cremonese, who are currently in the bottom three, will be looking for their first league win of the season, and Alvini is set to put the team’s attack in the hands of a young Ghana international.
Afena-Gyan has only played 206 minutes for Cremonese since joining for a reported 6 million euros from AS Roma. He hasn’t been given much of a chance, which has frustrated him at times, but he remains optimistic.
The 19-year-old was named to Black Stars coach Otto Addo’s preliminary squad for the 2022 World Cup, which begins on November 20.
Afena-Gyan was instrumental in qualifying and is expected to be named to the final list for the tournament in Qatar.
Ghana hope to advance from Group H, which includes Portugal, South Korea, and Uruguay.
