The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Asene Manso Akroso in the Eastern Region, Alex Incoom, has condemned the alleged jeers and catcalls against President Nana Akufo-Addo in Akroso.
He has described the incident as irrational, unfair and leathery, stressing that it was clandestinely masterminded by the leading opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
President Akufo-Addo is alleged to have been booed on his way to a three-day tour in the Eastern Region.
The tour, which follows a similar one in the Ashanti Region recently, started on Friday, October 21.
The video that has surfaced indicates that the President’s convoy was booed and hissed by a large number of residents in Akyem Akroso for the prevailing economic situation and lack of development in the area.
Meanwhile, the DCE, who was speaking in an interview on Onua FM on Saturday, October 22, insisted that the act was orchestrated by NDC members to derail the president’s tour.
He has labeled the act as a propaganda and a strategy by the NDC to downplay the achievements of President Akufo Addo.
“We know the names and political background of those who instigated the act. They are all NDC members, even the one who shot the video is an NDC woman organizer aspirant in Asene and they did so only to disgrace and disrupt Nana Addo’s tour.
“This is not perpetrated by well-meaning Ghanaians who are not happy with the prevailing economic situation in Ghana, it is a scheme by the NDC to mobilize people to boo the President only to woo the public against the achievement of Nana Addo,” he insisted.
Alex Incoom, who doubles as the DISEC chair in the area, underscored that President Akufo-Addo received a rousing welcome during the tour and entreated the general public to discredit the purported video.
He expounded that the president’s convoy was far gone when the incident happened, rather it was the soldier’s convoy following the president that was hooted at.
Admittedly, the DCE said Ghanaians are going through economic hardship yet he strongly believes that government policies in place would restore the economy and salvage the situation.
He signaled that the NDC are taking advantage of the current economic situation by using tactics to vilify the government, yet he is optimistic that those vindictive approaches would not yield and outwit the achievements of Nana Addo.
He maintained that the government is focused and would continue to work hard to transform the country irrespective of the global economic crisis.
