Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu has decided to play for the Black Stars, making himself available for future call-ups.
Salisu, who has previously declined several invitations, will accept to play if called, according to Onua Sports.
While on vacation in Ghana, Salisu, a close family member, and key Ghana Football Association (GFA) officials met, and the centre-back declared his intention to play for the senior national team.
It followed a meeting in May between GFA president Kurt Okraku and Salisu in England.
Also, ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoffs against Nigeria in March, Black Stars coach Otto Addo met with Salisu with the intention of inviting him, but the 23-year-old insisted on not being ready.
Salisu has been on the GFA’s radar for more than two years in an attempt to entice him to play for Ghana, so his latest decision is greatly welcomed.
The former Real Valladolid player is one of Ghana’s best players abroad and is regarded as someone who can significantly help the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Salisu had the most interceptions in the Premier League last season.
