The maiden edition of the 3Business Colloquium is scheduled to take place at the Executive Theatre of TV3 on Wednesday, July 6.
The Colloquium is expected to be a congregation of the best brains and captains of industry as well as policy makers, some of whom are lined up as speakers.
Ghana is preparing for another extended credit facility from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as inflation soars while other macroeconomic indicators look bad.
Inflation is at 27.6 percent, the highest in nearly two decades.
The Bank of Ghana has twice increased the policy rate to tame inflation but this is not yielding the necessary results.
The topic to be discussed, therefore, is ‘The Road to IMF: Achieving Low Inflation and Macroeconomic Stability; The Way Forward’.
The speakers lined up for the programme are Head of Research at the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) Dr John Kwakye, who has the experience of having worked with the IMF and the Central Bank in the past, Minister of Information Kojo Oppokng Nkrumah, Greater Accra Region Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) Tsonam Akpeloo, and Senior Fellow of the African Center for Economic Transformation Dr John Asafu-Adjei, who was Associate Professor at University of Queensland in Australia.
There will also be discussants, among whom are President of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA) Dr Joseph Obeng, Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER) Professor Peter Quartey, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mark Badu-Aboagye, Head of Research at the Ghana Trades Union (TUC) Dr Kwabena Nyarko Otoo, Senior Economics Lecturer Dr Owusu Sarkodie, ISSER’s Prof Charles Ackah and Alhaji Abass Imoro, who will represent the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU).
